Question: Did Shaikh Tidjani, may ALLAH be pleased with him, prescribe the recitation of one Juz of Qur’an every day?
Question: Did Shaikh Tidjani, may ALLAH be pleased with him, ordain the recitation of one Juzz of Quran every day?
Answer:
In Ifada Ahmediya, it is related that Seidina Ahmed Tidjani (may Allah sanctify his precious secret) said: “He who has memorised the Qur’an must recite at least two parts (one Juz or Hizbayn) per day.”
It should be noted that this recommendation was mainly addressed to those who had memorised the entire Qur’an.
Moreover, at the time of Sidi Ahmed Tidjani (may Allah sanctify his precious secret), there was no group reading aloud together of the Qur’an in the blessed Zawiya. It was actually Sidi Hadj Muhammad Guennun who was the first to establish the practice of the Qur’an (Hizbayn) recitation aloud in circles in the Zawiya, seventy-five years after the death of Sidi Ahmed Tidjani (may ALLAH sanctify his precious secret), in the year 1305 H. There were ten persons responsible for leading and supervising the group recitation.
And ALLAH, The Glorified, The Exalted knows best. We request His Forgiveness and Mercy.
