Who Are the Best of People?
Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad,
the Opener of what was closed,
the Seal of what came before,
the Helper of the Truth by the Truth,
and the Guide to Your straight path.
And upon his family,
according to his immense worth and the greatness of his rank.
Allah تعالى said:
“Say: If you truly love Allah, then follow me;
Allah will love you and forgive your sins.
For Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
(Sūrat Āl ʿImrān, 3:31)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Indeed, there is a piece of flesh in the body:
if it is sound, the whole body is sound;
and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt.
Truly, it is the heart.”
(Reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim)
Words of our master Shaykh Aḥmad Tijānī (may Allah sanctify his precious secret)
“Every opening, every light, and every spiritual elevation
are attained only through sincere following of the Beloved ﷺ.”
“Our true model is indeed the Beloved Prophet ﷺ;
any divergence from his tradition is misguidance.”
WHO ARE THE BEST OF PEOPLE?
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
According to ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ (may Allah be pleased with them), we said to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:
“O Messenger of Allah, who are the best of people?”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Those who have a pure heart and a truthful tongue.”
We said:
“O Messenger of Allah, we know what a truthful tongue is, but what is a pure heart?”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“It is a heart that has taqwā* and is pure, a heart in which there is no sin, no injustice, and no envy.”
We said:
“O Messenger of Allah, who comes after them?”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Those who detest this worldly life and love the Hereafter.”
We said:
“We see this only in Rāfiʿ, the freed servant of the Prophet ﷺ. Who comes after him?”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“A believer with good character.”
They said:
“As for this, we find it among ourselves.”
(Reported by Ibn Mājah and authenticated by Shaykh al-Albānī in Ṣaḥīḥ at-Targhīb, no. 2931)
*NOTE ON TAQWĀ
Taqwā refers to placing a protective barrier between oneself and the punishment of Allah by fulfilling what Allah has commanded and avoiding what He has forbidden.

the Helper of the Truth by the Truth,
